Year 2022

  • Launch of the 5th edition of A Guide to Better Public Toilet Design and Maintenance - the latest edition, which incorporate restroom product certification scheme and products capable of eliminating viruses such as COVID-19.
  • Incorporation of the LOO (Let's Observe Ourselves) Awards as one of the satellite events supporting Clean and Green Singapore

  • 20th anniversary commemoration since its inception in 1998
  • Accreditation of the first six-star restrooms at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands -  highest accreditation meeting the criteria of a near-perfect score, restroom-cleaning certification all cleaning attendants and adoption of smart restroom solutions
  • Launch of Public Toilet Cleanliness Campaign with National Environment Agency - campaign to encourage users to adopt good toilet habits
  • Launch of the 4th edition of A Guide to Better Public Toilet Design and Maintenance - the latest edition, which incorporate smart toilet technology guidelines, provides professionals with information about good design, maintenance and user education
  • Launch of Happy Happy Toilets @ Preschools Booklet & Handbook - activity booklet for children to cultivate good hygiene and handbook for teachers and parents to engage children on effective hygiene education

  • Launch of SaniGives - initiative to raise awareness about showing kindness and recognition towards cleaning attendants

  • New LOO (Let’s Observe Ourselves) Kidz award category - recognise exemplary primary students executing projects under the STAR (Sustaining Toilets As Restrooms) Awards Programme

Year 2015

  • Launch of Happy Toilets @ Preschools Programme - a new holistic programme aims at encouraging preschools to achieve the highest accreditation of completing the three phases on Design, Maintenance and Education
  • Launch of A Guide to Better Preschool Toilet Design, Maintenance and Education - guide to provide preschools with information about good design, maintenance and user education

Year 2014

  • Launch of new Happy Toilet Six Star Rating - highest accreditation to include adoption of technology to increase productivity and efficiency and cleaning attendants to complete the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) module in washroom cleaning

Year 2013

  • Initiated Singapore WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) Conference - first conference for building owners and professionals on WASH regulations, guidelines, planning, practices and promotion
  • Launch of the 3rd edition of A Guide to Better Public Toilet Design and Maintenance - guide which provides professionals with information about good design, maintenance and user education

Year 2012

  • Launch of LOO (Let's Observe Ourselves) Whiz - first online game to experience the demanding work of a restroom cleaning attendant
  • Launch of LOO (Let's Observe Ourselves) Connect - effective channel to commend clean toilet operators and denounce dirty toilet operators
  • Launch of On-the-Job Training (OJT) Programme on Restroom Cleaning - a training programme for existing cleaning crew who are not trained in restroom cleaning.

Year 2011

  • Launch of Sustaining Toilets As Restrooms (STAR) Awards Programme - new holistic school programme in restroom hygiene

Year 2010

  • Launch of LOO (Let's Observe Ourselves) Carnival - to raise public awareness on the need to adopt the right restroom culture
  • Launch of LOO (Let's Observe Ourselves)

Year 2009

  • Launch of LOO (Let's Observe Ourselves) Awards - to recognise any organisations or individuals who have contributed to help Singapore achieve a world recognised standard of restroom cleanliness
  • Launch of LOO (Let's Observe Ourselves) Map - an online map locator of our Happy Toilets

Year 2008

  • Inception of "Inter Agencies Working Committee" in November - part of our vision and long-term plan to achieve "Every Restroom like Changi Airport" (ERICA)
  • Implementation of Certified and Volunteer Eco-Assessor Programme in November - play a vital role toward the sustainability of clean public toilets
  • Launch of LOO (Let's Observe Ourselves) Campaign in November

Year 2007

  • Launch of the Happy Toilet School Education programme for Preschools in July - an ongoing public education initiative for Preschools.

Year 2006

  • Mr Jack Sim, Founder of RAS, was awarded the Social Entrepreneur of the Year at the inaugural ceremony on 16 February 2006. Presented by Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports
  • Launch of the Restroom Specialist Training Course in June

Year 2005

  • Launch of the Happy Toilet School Education programme in July - an ongoing public education initiative for schools
  • Initiated the establishment of World Toilet College - a dedicated training institution for sanitation

Year 2004

  • Mr Jack Sim, Founder of RAS, was awarded the Singapore Green Plan 2012 Award by the National Environment Agency (NEA) for tackling the public health concern about dirty and poorly maintained toilets; and bringing a fresh perspective and approach in dealing with the issue locally, as well as internationally
  • Obtained the certification from the Work Development Agency as an approved NSRS (National Skills Recognition Scheme) Training & Assessment Center

Year 2003

  • Launch of the Happy Toilet Programme - a nationally recognized rating system for public toilets

Year 2001

  • Declared as one of the founding members of World Toilet Organization
  • Made "The Singapore Declaration of Future Toilet Action"
  • Together with 16 other toilet association, declared and celebrated the first World Toilet Day, November 19

Year 2000

  • Presented Singapore Toilet Report 2000 in Japan's 16th National Toilet Symposium
  • Participated in the inaugural Korea-Japan Toilet Forum in Suwon City, Korea. The trip was sponsored by Singapore Tourism Board
  • Visited Taiwan Toilet Association and her president, Architect Mr. Frank Wu, to discuss cooperation to set up a world sanitation body (later known as World Toilet Organization)

Year 1998

  • Inception of the Restroom Association (Singapore)
