As the Restroom Association (Singapore) or RAS marked its 15th year, a series of activities and projects were initiated such as the inaugural Singapore WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) Conference. We wish to extend our heartiest appreciation to government, private and non-government organisations for your support. The conference was held not only to commemorate World Toilet Day but also as a platform for committed stakeholders to congregate and identify key WASH challenges and available solutions.

RAS holds inaugural Singapore WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) Conference and 5th annual LOO (Let’s Observe Ourselves) Awards

This latest edition is published by the RAS with the support of eight government, private and non-government organisations. The conference and awards was held to commemorate World Toilet Day.

RAS certifies Circle Line MRT stations and another preschool under the Happy Toilet Programme (HTP)

11 Circle Line MRT stations and another PAP Community Foundation (PCF) preschool namely the Sparkletots Child Development Centre (Telok Blangah) were certified with a 4-star rating under the HTP. This marks the first HTP participation of MRT stations and the first preschool to achieve a 4-star rating.

RAS conducts training for mosques’ cleaning attendants and supervisors from the South West Mosque Cluster

RAS organises LOO (Let’s Observe Ourselves) Carnival at five HDB shopping malls

Young visitors at the LOO Carnival having fun with the LOO Quest game, a restroom-etiquette version of snakes and ladders. With HDB as the venue sponsor, the LOO Carnival was held at five shopping malls from 21st October to 24th November. Since 2010, the carnival was held to raise public awareness.

RAS participates actively in Clean and Green Singapore (CGS) events

Visiting preschoolers having fun with colouring vivid pictures and educational messages on restroom etiquette at the CGS Schools’ Carnival held from 12th to 13th November at ITE College West. Other interactive games and activities were also installed for these little visitors.

Featured school from our STAR (Sustaining Toilets As Restrooms) programme

Students from Global Indian International School (GIIS) Balestier Campus presenting tokens of appreciation to cleaning attendants. From the list of nominated candidates for our LOO Awards 2013 for the Best School category, GIIS Balestier emerged as the worthy winner.

Featured school decorations from our STAR (Sustaining Toilets As Restrooms) programme

Continuing further with our next few rounds of STAR Programme school audits, RAS would like to thrust the spotlight on the efforts of Fuhua Primary, Park View Primary and CHIJ Queen of Peace. These schools deserve a special mention due to the unique approaches employed in the decoration of their toilets.

Singapore World Water Day (WWD) 2014

RAS has been invited by PUB as one of the partners for the Singapore WWD to be held at the Marina Barrage. The event is organised to celebrate WWD with a focus on water and energy conservation.
