RAS awards the World Toilet Day Commemoration Fund (WTDCF) to 15 preschools and schools

In the months of October and November, 8 preschools, 6 primary and 1 secondary schools will be organising toilet-related activities to commemorate World Toilet Day (WTD). All activities to be organised by the 15 preschools and schools correspond to the list of suggested activities on our website as follows:

·     Cleaning attendants' appreciation

·     Environmental cleaning (includes toilet cleaning)

·     Exhibition/Carnival

·     Poster/Song/Video competition

·     Learning journey

·     Public toilet inspections

·     Outreach to other preschools/schools or other community establishments

It is heartening to see all schools organising appreciation activities for cleaning attendants while all preschools organising environmental cleaning to experience the strenuous work of cleaning so as to better appreciate the effort of cleaning attendants. Through organising such activities to commemorate WTD, we hope the younger generation will fully comprehend the importance of sanitation and better appreciate the quality sanitation they now enjoy as compared to 2.5 billion people still living without proper sanitation.

RAS partners with Universal Sovereign Trading (UST) on a series of activities

RAS is delighted to welcome the addition of new partner Universal Sovereign Trading (UST) that will further strengthen our position as a one-stop solutions provider offering holistic solutions to building owners and operators. UST has been actively embracing corporate social responsibility (CSR) and collaborating closely with RAS not only on mystery Happy Toilet audits but also the Happy Toilets @ Preschools Programme (HTPP) which was launched in February. For the next three years, 40 preschools stand to benefit from the HTPP at no cost, owing to UST's kind generosity of funding the HTPP.

Apart from funding the HTPP, UST also supported the Pre-school Environmental Education Advisor Networking Session organised by the National Environment Agency (NEA) on 17th August. A booth was set up and tissues were distributed to visiting principals and teachers at the booth. UST also took the initiative to promote the HTPP and encourage preschools to sign up. UST is the exclusive distributor of APP tissue products which helps to manage the brand, sales and distribution of leading tissue brands -- PASEO, LIVI, NICE and Jolly. The products, which are Green Label Singapore certified, are distributed to major supermarket chains, commercial buildings, airport, schools, hospitals and hotels.

RAS shares its Happy Toilets @ Preschools Programme (HTPP) with principals and teachers

At the Pre-school Environmental Education Advisor Networking Session organised by the National Environment Agency (NEA) on 17th August, RAS participated for the fifth time since 2010, to promote its newly launched Happy Toilets @ Preschools Programme (HTPP). During the presentation to more than 100 principals and teachers, all were enthusiastic to learn about the announcement made on complimentary HTPP accrediation for the first 40 preschools signing up at the event.

Even before the end of the presentation, queues were already forming at our booth with more than 40 preschools signing up and the rest of the preschools placed on a waiting list. Besides RAS, NEA also invited Early Childhood Development Agency, Singapore Environment Council and two preschools to share their programmes. RAS also set up a booth to showcase its HTPP and its partner, tissue distributor Universal Sovereign Trading, was also present to display its range of PASEO products. Samples were distributed to visiting principals and teachers who signed up for the free HTPP accreditation.

RAS certifies first bus interchange under the Happy Toilet Programme (HTP)

Our survey for the past three years continued to reveal bus interchanges as one of the dirtiest – third dirtiest after coffeeshops and hawker centres – toilet locations. However, the toilets at Yishun Bus Interchange now stand apart from the rest having been awarded a 4-star rating under the HTP by offering user-friendly facilities for wheelchair users, babies, children and the elderly. The toilets are also adorned with plants and decals of distinguished cartoon characters such as Hello Kitty, Mickey Mouse and Pooh Bear.

The Happy Toilet certification of the first bus interchange signifies a crucial milestone for the HTP. With the construction of better air-conditioned bus interchanges, we hope more bus interchanges will participate in the HTP to offer quality toilets to the commuters. In 2013, the HTP achieved another crucial milestone with the certification of 11 Circle Line MRT stations which was followed by 6 more MRT stations in the city area.
