RAS commemorated Action for Earth Affair 2011 with a week-long exhibition at Orchard Central from the 16th to the 21st of May. The affair, organised in collaboration with the Hemisphere Foundation, aimed to create awareness about daily environmental issues like recycling and conservation. During the week-long event, the RAS Learning Pavilion tracking the developments of restrooms in Singapore and our growth were put on display. Loo Quest, a game originally initiated by us, was also played to interact with the public and increase awareness about hygiene in our most 'sacred' place.
Attractive prizes of bathroom accessories worth more than $800 were sponsored by Crizto for a toilet photo competition while Initial Hygiene sponsored hand sanitizers for the event. The event was also supported by a number of high profile Singaporean leaders including Dr Amy Khor, who was then the Minister of State for the Environment and Water Resources, personally came to visit the exhibition. Mdm Cynthia Phua, Grassroots advisor to Aljunied GRC extended her support by being the Guest of Honour for the event.
