The RAS, Restroom
Association (Singapore) is pleased to welcome the addition of
Koptiam’s coffeeshops under its flagship Happy Toilet Programme
(HTP). Together with Kopitiam, NTUC Foodfare, which is the other
enterprise under FairPrice Group, has participated in the HTP since 2009
and they are the first food operator to achieve 100% Happy Toilet
certification in 2011.
Supported by the National
Environment Agency, the RAS also conducted pre-Happy Toilet audits for
three coffeeshops under the Neighbourhood Toilets Community Group (NTCG) initiative
which was launched by the Public Hygiene Council. Apart from providing
feedback and recommendations, RAS will subsequently grade and certify these
coffeeshops under its HTP for three years. RAS aspires to reach out to
more committed NTCG coffeeshop owners and operators to offer advice and
to certify their toilets.
Currently, there are private
and public-sector organisation categories under the annual LOO (Let’s Observe
Ourselves) Awards, RAS has introduced a new community-sector
organisation category to recognise organisations and groups of
individuals with exceptional contributions to the restroom environment.
These can be voluntary groups and groups of students. With this new
category, RAS hopes to encourage and motivate more individuals to jointly
work together in groups to achieve a greater impact to the restroom
environment.
