It is heartening for the
RAS, Restroom Association (Singapore) to set another new milestone for
the Happy Toilet Programme
(HTP) with the six-star
accreditation of the first office toilets at the Maritime and Port
Authority of Singapore (MPA). The six-star accreditation is favourably
viewed as the owner’s strongest commitment to providing smart toilets
of the highest standards, to effectively maintain cleanliness which is
paramount amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
With more offices
coming on board the HTP, we will include a new best office category for
our LOO (Let’s
Observe Ourselves) Awards to encourage employers to provide a safe
and clean restroom environment for its employees. With at least eight
hours of working in the office, office toilet cleanliness should not be
taken lightly. Office toilets of quality standards help to ensure the
safety and well-being of the workers. A number of construction sites had been
certifying their toilets under our HTP since 2008 to provide clean
toilets for the construction workers. This serves as an exemplary model
for other workplaces to follow suit.
Cleaning attendants
are the key contributors of clean toilets and their commendable efforts
should not go unnoticed. Therefore, we are increasing the number of
awarded attendants for our LOO Awards from 20 last year to 30 this year. We
also partnered with APP Commercial Pte Ltd to introduce the Happy
Toilets @ Preschools Projects Grant which was awarded to 10
preschools. The grant is utilised by preschools to educate their
preschoolers to show kindness and recognition to the attendants with
appreciation activities. We strongly believe social graciousness should
be inculcated from young and if all users can show their kindness towards cleaning
attendants, they will be gracious and considerate to keep toilets clean.
