For
the past three months, we had been actively reaching out to the education
sector. Amid rising concerns over the outbreak of hand-foot-and-mouth
disease (HFMD), we held our first preschool seminar and shared with invited
principals and teachers about our school education programme and the
importance of maintaining high restroom standards and personal hygiene.

involvement in the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) with Nanjing’s Jinling Wanbao
On 19th August, Jinling Wanbao
(Nanjing Evening News), a newspaper publication in China, featured a report
about youths volunteering as our Eco-Assessors to assess star-rated
restrooms as part of our Happy
Toilet Programme.

above-mentioned segment of the 5th series of “On the Beat”, Channel
U's most popular magazine-style infotainment programme, was aired on 10th August.

Nan School in their restroom learning excursion
With our help, a group of
primary students from Tao Nan School went on a restroom excursion on 26th
August at Thomson Plaza to learn about the best practices adopted by restroom
owners in keeping their restrooms clean.

RAS Learning Pavilion
After making its debut at four
libraries from April to July, the RAS Learning Pavilion – a roving
exhibition on Singapore’s sanitation - will extend its reach to three
more libraries namely the Marine Parade Public Library, Woodlands Regional
Library and Queenstown Public Library in September, October and November
respectively.

World Toilet Summit 2010
At the World Toilet Summit to
be held in the US from 30th October to 3rd November, RAS will be sharing
about its close partnership with government agencies. This includes working
with the National Environment Agency (NEA) on a revised guideline of
providing more female toilets in 2005.

LOO – Let’s Observe
Ourselves – Carnival 2010
RAS is holding its first LOO (Let’s
Observe Ourselves) Carnival 2010 from 3rd to 5th December at the Plaza of
the National Library Building. Invited Guest-of-Honour, Dr Amy Khor, Senior
Parliamentary Secretary of Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources,
will grace the event and present the LOO awards to the recipients on 3rd
December.
