The RAS,
Restroom Association (Singapore) welcomes its new Executive Director Mr
Sandeep Khanna. With RAS under new stewardship, we are anticipating more
impactful initiatives to be implemented in the near future such as our LOO
(Let’s Observe Ourselves) Campaign @ Coffeeshops, which takes
place from this year after the successful completion of our 3-year LOO
Campaign @ Hawker Centres launched in
2021.
The LOO Campaign @ Hawker Centres was spearheaded by outgoing
Executive Director, Mr Emerson Hee. Together with his team, the campaign
achieved positive results in spite of limited manpower resources, with 78
out of the 119 hawker centres rated Good while the rest were rated as
Average. During his 10-year stint with RAS as the Executive Director, many
milestones were achieved such as the annual LOO Awards and Guide
to Public Toilet Design and Maintenance. He also successfully enhanced
the corporate image of RAS as a one-stop restroom hub. Since the rebranding
of RAS, its Happy Toilet
Programme (HTP) attracted premium owners namely The Shoppes at the
Marina Bay Sands and Sentosa to come on board the HTP. Both owners were
also awarded in the ASEAN
Public Toilet Awards. We thank Mr Hee for his contributions, and we
believe that he will continue to excel in his future endeavours.
Apart from attracting premium owners and operators, the HTP
achieved another milestone with a condominium’s common toilet
certified for the first time. A private office toilet in a HDB flat was
also certified for the first time. With the launch of the LOO Campaign @
Coffeeshops, we are anticipating more coffeeshops to participate in the
HTP. The campaign requires the strong support from all stakeholders and
RAS will proactively work with them especially the coffeeshop operators
to achieve similar outcome like its LOO Campaign @ Hawker Centres. With clean
coffeeshop toilets after the campaign, we will then truly achieve our
vision of fostering a “Gracious Society Embracing Excellence in
Restroom Culture”.
