RAS conducts public outreach as part of its LOO (Let’s Observe Ourselves) Campaign @ Hawker Centres

In its bid to sustain hygiene standard of hawker centre toilets in the midst of the current pandemic, RAS launched the LOO Campaign @ Hawker Centres with the following four-pronged holistic approach:

1.    Train related Town Council and other cleaning staff on good design and maintenance

2.    Audit toilets followed by reporting findings and recommendations

3.    Public outreach to patrons and stall holders to show their appreciation and kindness to all cleaning attendants.

4.    Recognise exemplary hawker centres and toilet cleaning attendants.

campaign2RAS successfully reached out to 40 hawker centres from 5 town councils namely Jalan Besar, Jurong-Clementi, Nee Soon, Tanjong Pagar and West Coast. From January to March, the outreach was extensive with more than 10,000 tissue packets distributed to public patrons and stall holders. The QR code and URL address printed on the tissue packets allow the public to nominate toilet attendants and to pledge their commitment to keep their visited hawker centre toilets clean. Under the campaign, from April to March next year, RAS intends to reach out to 80 hawker centres which includes 40 existing and 40 new hawker centres.

RAS partners with Dyson to introduce Happy Toilets @ Preschools Projects Grant

RAS is pleased to partner with Dyson to offer grants to preschools which are capped at $200 per preschool. Applications for the grant are opened from now till 30 April. A maximum of 15 preschools participating in the Happy Toilets @ Preschools Programme can tap into the grant to guide the grant2preschoolers to embark on projects namely decoration, inspection, exhibition and appreciation (showing kindness to cleaning and kitchen staff).

Training will be conducted for teachers of participating preschools to equip them with the knowledge and resources to guide their children from N1 to K2 (4 to 6 years), to execute the projects. Since 2015, RAS has been actively reaching out to more than 100 preschools under its Happy Toilets @ Preschools Programme, to educate children, teachers and support staff on good hygiene practices. With the grant, RAS hopes preschools can take ownership of educating the children through hygiene-related projects and activities.

RAS shares its auditing experience with MediaCorp journalist

RAS received an invitation from MediaCorp Chinese Digital News 8world to feature in their new special series. In the series, a journalist would interview various interesting occupations about their work. The audit work of RAS was favourably selected in their list of occupations. Owing to the support from the cea2National Environment Agency (NEA), the filming commenced at Zion Riverside Food Centre with our assessor Mr Vincent Loh demonstrating to a MediaCorp journalist on the steps of auditing the toilets.

A fun element was incorporated to the filming whereby a mini challenge was given to the journalist to correctly perform an audit using a checklist of 17 items which covers the hand-wash, water closet, urinal, and general areas. The series would mostly likely be published in April. The video will be put up on the 8world website and also on social media platforms, including Facebook and Youtube.
