RAS conducts online training for a corporation in China

RAS received an email request from a multinational planning & design consultant firm in late December last year. RAS was invited to be involved in a consultancy service for one of the firm’s clients who is in-charge of building and managing highway rest stops in a major province in Eastern China. Their client was very impressed with how Singapore's public spaces and amenities had been developed and managed, and requested RAS to provide them with consultancy service on public toilet design, maintenance and management.

training1An online session was conducted in January which covered the following topics:

Towards the end during the Q&A session, RAS also offered the Chinese corporation with an insight on the design, maintenance and management of public toilets by public transport operators in Singapore. Similar sessions were first conducted in 2017 and 2018 for Ascendas and DBS Bank.

RAS conducts online training for preschools and schools

Apart from conducting training online to 10 preschools under the Happy Toilets @ Preschools Programme, RAS also conducted a three-hour training session online to cleaning and kitchen support staff from a cluster of preschools in the southwest district on 15th March. The training covered the comprehensive preschool hygiene checklists which were launched on 19 November, World Toilet Day, last year. The NEA Pictorial Guide on Toilet Cleaning was also shared with the support staff on the proper steps of toilet cleaning.

school2Similar training sessions were also conducted online for cleaning staff and Operations Managers from more than 15 schools in November and January. The training covered the NEA's Pictorial Guide of Toilet Cleaning and the RAS' washroom audit checklist. The training session equipped the cleaning staff with necessary skills to perform toilet cleaning and Operations Managers or other operations staff on effectively checking the toilets to meet the required standards. All training sessions for preschools and schools also included a live demonstration on the right steps of clearing bodily fluids e.g. vomit, faeces, urine, blood etc. as advised by the National Environment Agency (NEA) during the current COVID-19 pandemic.

RAS supports St. Hilda's Secondary School’s Service Learning Symposium 2021

At the Service Learning Symposium held online via Zoom for the first time, RAS shared about its upcoming service learning project – LOO (Let’s Observe Ourselves) Campaign @ Hawker Centres – on cleaners' appreciation and public education. Three rounds of Zoom meeting at 15 minutes each were hilda2conducted to students islandwide. RAS shared about its SaniGives initiative, urging students to become SaniGivers to give for sanitation, by showing their kindness and appreciation to cleaning attendants especially in the midst of the current pandemic, whereby their contributions are favourably viewed as crucial.

Details about its LOO Campaign @ Hawker Centres were also shared with the students who will be required to assume three rotating shifts for about 1.5 hours during peak meal hours. Students are expected to interact with patrons and distribute freebies to them such as educational tissue packets about showing kindness to cleaning attendants and keeping the toilets clean. RAS first participated in the symposium organised by St. Hilda’s Secondary School in 2015 and the then Happy Toilets @ Shopping Malls service learning project also consisted of cleaners’ appreciation but it was held at shopping centres instead.
