As the world marked a new beginning in the midst of the COVID-19
pandemic which had affected everyone worldwide, the RAS, Restroom
Association (Singapore) stepped up its training to focus on preschool
hygiene and proper public toilet maintenance. Well-maintained toilets not
only help to ensure a pleasant experience for users but most importantly,
help to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone, especially the vulnerable.
With the launch of our
new set of hygiene
checklists for preschools in November last year, RAS actively reached
out to preschools under its Happy Toilets @
Preschools Programme to train all preschool staff namely teachers,
kitchen and cleaning staff on preschool hygiene which included proper
toilet maintenance. Similar training was also conducted for school
cleaning staff and Operations Managers. RAS extended its training
overseas to a corporation in China to share about toilet design and
maintenance. All these training sessions were conducted online to
minimise physical interactions and reduce the risk of any potential
COVID-19 transmissions.
Our fellow cleaning
attendants remain as key pillars in our fight against COVID-19.
Therefore, their crucial contributions and tireless efforts should be
greatly appreciated and recognised. RAS has been raising funds for the
attendants since 2014 and SaniGives was launched in 2017 to raise public
awareness on showing kindness and recognition to them. In March, RAS
participated in the St Hilda's Biennial Service-Learning Symposium, which
was held online, to encourage students to become SaniGivers
to volunteer in activities to appreciate the attendants. With the LOO
(Let’s Observe Ourselves) Awards opened for nominations from now till
September, we are certainly looking forward to more cleaning attendants
been nominated for their dedication this year.
