2013 was an eventful year for the Restroom Association (Singapore) or RAS with new initiatives launched such as the inaugural Singapore WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) Conference and the 3rd edition of A Guide to Better Public Toilet Design and Maintenance. As we embarked on our new journey this year, we are already actively planning to forge concrete partnerships with other government agencies, educational institutions and private companies to jointly develop more impactful initiatives.

RAS participates in Care & Share Movement to appreciate cleaning attendants

RAS, an Institution of a Public Character (IPC), is honoured to be among 209 Voluntary Welfare Organisations (VWOs) on board the Care & Share Movement led by Community Chest. All cleaning service buyers and providers are urged to work with RAS to organise activities to appreciate the unsung heroes – cleaning attendants.

RAS certifies workers’ dormitory and construction company office under the Happy Toilet Programme (HTP) for the first time

A workers’ dormitory and a private office under construction company Samwoh were certified with a 4-star rating under the HTP in February. This marks another milestone for HTP with the participation of workers’ dormitory for the first time.

RAS hosts study visit for Malaysian delegates

RAS President Ms Tan Puay Hoon (standing 2nd from right) hosting a group of 19 Malaysian delegates who was on a study trip to Singapore. Firsthand information on the latest edition of A Guide to Better Public Toilet Design and Maintenance was provided to the visiting delegates comprising of government officials and university lecturers.

Students from Swiss Cottage Secondary School using RAS Self Assessment Checklist to conduct a mystery audit at Jurong Point shopping mall. The students are undertaking this initiative as part of 3 projects they intend to submit to RAS under the STAR Programme and their Values In Action objectives.
