In its bid
to equip premises’ managers and Environmental Control Coordinators
(ECCs) with the essential knowledge of clean toilet standards, the Restroom
Association (Singapore) or RAS partnered with the Ascendo
Academy to offer a free course on restroom inspection in addition to
the ECC course. As required by the National Environment
Agency (NEA), ECCs have to undergo training to oversee the implementation
of the Environmental
Sanitation Programme.
The restroom inspection course
will be conducted as part of the 3-year LOO
(Let’s Observe Ourselves) Campaign @ Hawker Centres supported
by the NEA. The campaign targets to reach out to all hawker centres by
end March 2024. Last year, RAS reached out to 40 hawker centres managed
by five TCs namely Jalan Besar,
Jurong-Clementi, Tanjong Pagar, Nee Soon and
West Coast. This year, another 40 hawker centres managed by the remaining
six TCs and JTC will be targeted.
Owing to the support from
Dyson, 15 preschools were awarded the Happy
Toilets @ Preschools Projects Grant. We are anticipating innovative
projects to be implemented by teachers and their children. We strongly
value the need to educate the younger generation through projects instead
of just talks and lessons, especially on showing kindness and
consideration to cleaning attendants. When our future generations are
more gracious, we can then sustain the cleanliness of our public toilets.
