Highlights of the upcoming activities and projects from April to June 2007

  •   Happy Toilet School Education     Besides primary and secondary     students, RAS will be reaching out to     the preschoolers in the second     quarter this year with a similar,     scaled-down programme. The HTSE programme for preschools aims to educate and inculcate good toilet manners in the K1 and K2 children.
  • Workshop for Youth – Polytechnics, junior colleges and university students are encouraged to undertake project work related to toilet issues in their field of interest e.g. mass communications, social science, engineering etc. This project work will culminate in a Project Workshop where they will share their results.
  • Public Awareness Talks – Public education on toilet etiquette has been directed at specific target audience i.e. schools or the general public (at community events and posters). Bringing the message of Good Toilet Etiquette is now possible for users in commercial and industrial buildings, shopping centres, etc. It involves giving lunchtime and scheduled talks.
  • Happy Toilet Programme an on-going effort to raise the standards of design, cleanliness & maintenance in public toilets by rating public toilets in hawker centres, coffee shops, shopping malls, parks, hospitals, industrial buildings & tourist attractions

Public Speaking - Connecting with the audience

Kelly Loh has been with RAS since March 2006. She is a Mass Communications graduate from the Oklahoma City University. Kelly loves children, and has been taking care of RAS’s Happy Toilet School Education programme. During the course of her work, she has developed a natural ability for public speaking.

As a project executive in RAS, my job requires me to conduct public talks regularly. From school assembly talks to training courses and community events, I have realized that public speaking is indeed a skill that can be groomed as it is essentially, a confidence-building exercise.
