RAS is proud to be part of Project Million Lotus - an event organised by the Singapore Buddhist Federation in celebration of Vesak Day. Themed "Compassion for Public Health - Compassionate Toilet Acts!" our "Happy Toilet Pillar" featured positive examples of participants in the Happy Toilet School Education Programme demonstrating Social Responsibility & Social Graciousness towards the toilets and fellow schoolmates.

Highlights of the upcoming activities and projects from July to Sept 2007

  • Happy Toilet School Education for Preschools (HTSEP) After the successful pilot project with Gloryland Learning Centre, RAS will be partnering with North West Community Development Council for the official launch of the programme at PCF Sembawang kindergarten on 20 July. The Guest-of-Honour is Mr Khaw Boon Wan, Minister for Health and MP for Sembawang GRC.
  • SHINE Youth Festival - Together with the National Environment Agency, RAS will be participating in the Youth Bazaar of SHINE Youth Festival at the Youth Skate Park on 30 June. The festival aims to reach out to young Singaporeans that are currently not engaged in actively caring for Singapore's environment. It will also be celebrating and showcasing the involvement of young Singaporeans in the local society.

Youth for Public Health - My Volunteering Experience at Clean & Green Week 2006

Adonara Mucek is the president of Catholic Junior College’s Environmental Society. After a project with RAS, she led 10 other of the society members to volunteer for RAS during Clean & Green Week 2006.

It started with a school project that involved us researching on developments in our society. With the craziest notion in our minds, we decided to look into toilets. Little did we know that it was a doorway into an entirely different world. After preliminary research into toilets, we discovered that Singapore actually has an organisation dedicated to improving the conditions of toilets...

From Volunteer to Friend - RAS's Star Volunteer

Uncle Lim is a long-time volunteer with RAS and has supported us in several of our activities. He was recently awarded the Certificate of Appreciation for his dedicated volunteering efforts with RAS.

I’ve learned many things about toilet cleanliness and hygiene which I was ignorant before I joined RAS as a volunteer. What they are doing to help Singapore achieve clean toilets is very meaningful. I hope to see more people coming forward to volunteer for this meaningful organization, RAS.
