This
has indeed been a busy quarter for RAS.
There
has been more concerns from the public on
maintaining the cleanliness of their toilets and this has led to increased
interest in our Happy Toilet Audit Programs. Following our first Volunteer
Eco – Assessor (VEA) training with grassroot
leaders from Northwest CDC, we have also embarked on a job creation
initiative with Womens’ Development
Secretariat for our pioneer batch of Certified Eco Assessors (CEA).
Response from the 5 CDCs on our CEA recruitment
drive has been positive and we hope to train more CEAs
in the future.
We
also shared our Happy Toilet education expertise wit some 25 Thai Health
officers and tertiary institutions. As we able-bodied Singaporeans raise
issues about toilet hygiene, we have somehow forgotten to look into the nee ds of our
disabled friends in society. Ms Huiyu’s
contribution in this issue draws light to the concerns that her friends
face in public restrooms.
Our
LOO Campaign will see its launch on 19th November 2008 in conjunction
with World Toilet Day at the Zoo. The RAS team is currently ironing out the
details, so please check back on this link for more updates and I urge you
again to continue to email us your toilet concerns at info@toilet.org.sg.
As
you can see, it has been a busy and productive quarter for RAS and I look forward
to the remaining quarter being just as exciting. I hope to see you soon at
the LOO campaign!
