As RAS aims to launch a
new initiative every year at our LOO (Let’s Observe Ourselves) Carnival
& Awards, we are pleased to launch an online educational game called
the LOO (Let's Observe Ourselves) Whiz this year. We are indebted to the Nanyang Polytechnic’s School of Interactive
& Digital Media, for developing this game for us. This game is a good
alternative to actual restroom cleaning which helps to instil considerate
user behaviour especially among the younger generation.
For
the LOO Awards this year, RAS continues to garner more support from everyone,
receiving a total of 57 nominations. We wish to extend our heartiest
congratulations to the 16 award recipients for their strong commitment in
sustaining the quality standard of restroom cleanliness. We also wish to
thank the nominees for their support. For those who were not awarded this
year, we hope this will not deter you from eventually reaping the rewards
of your efforts.
The
purpose of the LOO Awards is not only recognising outstanding organisations
and individuals but also promoting the Happy Toilet Programme (HTP) to
raise restroom standards in Singapore. It is indeed encouraging to see a
higher participation rate of market and food centres this year. We are
heartened by the recent HTP participation of the Tanjong
Pagar Town Council which has the most number of
food centres. East Coast Town Council is the latest addition to the HTP
family. We hope other Town Councils not on board the HTP will soon follow
suit to achieve 100% Happy Toilets at all market and food centres.
Apart
from promoting the HTP, RAS also encouraged all HTP participating owners
to send their restroom cleaning attendants for training for the past
three months. With HTP certified restrooms and trained attendants,
considerate users are paramount in closing the loop on the sustainability
of quality restroom standards. Therefore, we continued to actively reach
out to the general public at Clean & Singapore (CGS) events to
promote good restroom etiquette. With the coming of a new year, we hope
to see more active engagement and collaboration among the three key
stakeholders namely the owners, cleaning companies and users, in achieving
cleaner and better restrooms for everyone.
