Riding on the success of
the LOO (Let’s Observe Ourselves) Carnival & Awards last year, RAS
continues to garner more support from new and existing partners & sponsors.
The LOO Awards was started in 2009 with only 24 nominations received but
this year, there were 57 nominations, which is a good sign that it is
gaining momentum. We would like to thank the nominees for their support.
For those who were not awarded this year, we hope this will not deter you
from eventually reaping the rewards of your efforts.
We
wish to extend our heartiest congratulations to the award recipients for
their strong commitment in sustaining the quality standard of restroom
cleanliness. Without them, quality and clean restrooms will soon become
history. We hope they will continue to shine bright in the restroom
environment and become role models for everyone.
With
the strong support of the National Environment Agency in promoting the
Happy Toilet Programme (HTP), it is indeed encouraging to see a higher participation
rate of food and beverage (F&B) outlets especially coffee shops. With
NTUC Foodfare becoming the first food operator to achieve 100% Happy
Toilet certification, we hope the rest will soon follow suit. If all
major food operators can work towards the goal of 100% certification, we
believe we are not far from achieving 70% of the 1,300 coffee shops to be
certified as Happy Toilets.
For
the past three months, Apart from promoting the HTP, RAS also actively reached
out to more local and foreign organisations & professionals via talks
and training sessions. The general public was also targeted at community
events such as the Clean & Singapore (CGS) events. With the coming of
a new year, we hope to see an active engagement and collaboration among the
three key stakeholders – owners & operators, contractors &
cleaners and users – in achieving cleaner and better restrooms for
everyone.
