It is indeed exciting for
us to witness many milestone events that had happened within the short
period of three months. The release of the first Inter-Agency Working
Committee (IAWC) report on public restrooms has garnered extensive media
publicity including attention from the foreign media. The release of this
report signifies a milestone partnership among organisations from the
public, private and people (3P) sectors.
We
are indebted to the various IAWC members from the 3P sectors for this
report and it would not have been achievable without their strong
commitment and support. The success story of the IAWC was also shared
with our foreign counterparts at the World Toilet Summit in the US which
included US Ambassador Mr John W. McDonald.
Riding
on the success of the first LOO (Let’s Observe Ourselves) Awards
last year, we strived to push ourselves to higher limits by incorporating
it into a three-day LOO Carnival to heighten public awareness. Again, the
support from everyone was encouraging with close to ten partners and
sponsors joining us in our first carnival. The LOO effect was propagated
further with the launch of our first LOO@Heartlands
campaign on 16th December. We received positive feedback from both the
public and the Happy Toilet owner.
RAS
continues to reach out to more organisations and professionals by
conducting various talks and training sessions. Not forgetting the
general public, RAS also actively participated in community events to
share its programmes and initiatives We are proud to report of some
recent successes within the mentioned areas of interest in our e-newsletter
as we remain committed to sharing our vision and mission statements with
the general public.
With
the coming of a new year, we hope to see the restroom industry’s three
key stakeholders, owners & operators, contractors & cleaners and
users working actively together to achieve cleaner public toilets for
everyone.
