With the kind assistance
rendered by media friends and close partners, bringing up the subject of
toilets has become less of a taboo topic as RAS continues its positive outreach
to more people, both locals and foreigners. We are thankful to MediaCorp
Radio, Capital 958 for airing a special feature about our Volunteer
Eco-Assessor (VEA) programme and to both the National Environment Agency
(NEA) and the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) for
inviting us to share our key programmes with foreign delegates and local volunteers
respectively.
The
Happy Toilet Programme (HTP) participation rate of food and beverage
(F&B) outlets is finally beginning to bear fruit with more committed
coffeeshop owners sprucing up their toilets to meet our HTP standards. It
is indeed encouraging to see more Happy Toilets surfacing at F&B
outlets especially coffeeshops that have been discredited for its dirty
toilets over the years. If 70% of the 1,300 coffeeshops can fulfil our
HTP standards, we are confident that 70% of the 30,000 toilets in
Singapore will soon meet our HTP standards.
With
the coming of our annual flagship LOO (Let’s Observe Ourselves)
Carnival & Awards ceremony in November, we hope to see a good turnout
and your support is crucial to the success of this event which aims to raising
public awareness on the need to adopt the right restroom culture.
