staff. RAS also reached out to the other three schools to participate in
its STAR Awards Programme. DQPS and JWPS have already kick started their

RAS speaks at Enhanced iSPRINT Partner Buzz organised by the
Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA)
RAS was invited to the
IDA’s iSPRINT Partner Buzz event as one of the panelists to discuss
the use of smart technology for smart cleaning. RAS shared two of its
partners’ smart technology namely Adesc Global’s Ozone
Air and Water Solutions and Infinergy Systems’ Restroom
Feedback System. Prior to the panel discussion, the National
Environment Agency (NEA) shared about opportunities &
challenges in the cleaning industry while IDA shared about its Enhanced
iSPRINT programme and Call for Smart Cleaning solutions.
Consultants,
Business Development professionals and training providers offering smarter
cleaning solutions were invited to the event to not only better
understand how innovative technology can revolutionise the cleaning
industry but also to network with IDA’s partners to explore possible
collaborations to pilot new solutions that can enhance the standard of
the local cleaning industry. The iSPRINT is a funding initiative that was
introduced in March 2010 to support Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs)
in the adoption of technology to boost their productivity and growth.

RAS trains more cleaning attendants for WSQ Perform Basic
Cleaning of Washrooms assessment
From
end February to early March, two training and WSQ washroom cleaning assessment
sessions were conducted each for a total of 36 cleaning attendants from
the Jurong Point Shopping Centre (JPSC) and the Shoppes at Marina Bay
Sands (MBS). The attendants underwent 3-hour training sessions in the morning
before taking the WSQ washroom cleaning assessments in the afternoon. The
training session served to equip the attendants with the right method of
washroom cleaning so as to better prepare them for the
assessment. Attendants will receive both the WSQ Washroom Cleaning Statement
of Attainment and RAS Certificate of Attendance upon successful
completion.
Apart
from the 18 participating attendants from the Shoppes at MBS, 40
attendants were already trained and assessed in December last year. In
November prior to the Shoppes at MBS, the National Library Board (NLB) became the first
building owner to engage RAS through its cleaning service provider, CBM
Pte Ltd, to undergo training and WSQ assessment. Last year, more than 50
attendants working at the National Library Building and the Shoppes at MBS
were trained and assessed. RAS is anticipating more committed building
owners to emulate the exemplary commitment displayed by the NLB, Shoppes
at MBS and JPSC, to request their cleaning service providers to engage
RAS for washroom training and WSQ assessment.

RAS supports St. Hilda's Secondary
School’s Service Learning Symposium 2016
After showcasing its Happy Toilets @ Shopping Malls
service learning project at the St. Hilda's Secondary School’s (SHSS)
Service Learning Symposium with a group of SHSS students executing
the project last year, RAS was invited for the second time to showcase
its new service learning project - Happy Toilets @ Preschools - not only
to SHSS students but also students from other schools. The symposium on
11th March, for the first time, welcomed school teachers and student
leaders from the North and East Zones with more than 200 SHSS students and 180 zonal
school students participating.
RAS saw a favourable turnout at its booth with
teachers and student leaders from other schools such as the NUS High
School enquiring about the Happy Toilets @ Preschools service learning
project. This project involves students going to preschools to conduct educational
talks, restroom audits and organise activities to appreciate cleaning
attendants at preschools. This project aims to equip students with presentation
experiences and event management skills as well as to build on their
positive character through appreciating the cleaning attendants. The purpose of the symposium was to encourage students
to carry out service learning beyond the school boundaries to give back
to the society as part of their character and citizenship education.
