The RAS,
Restroom Association (Singapore) marks its 20th anniversary with a
milestone - accreditation of the first six-star restrooms at The Shoppes at Marina
Bay Sands (MBS). The six-star
rating was introduced in late 2014 with higher scores set for four
and five-star ratings, so as to improve user experience. In April, after
three years of close collaboration with the strongly-committed team of
The Shoppes at MBS, six of its male and female restrooms met strict
criteria, with the remaining 30 restrooms to be accredited six-stars in
the near future.
The flagship Happy Toilet Programme
(HTP) also achieved another milestone with the first church namely
St. George's Church which was accredited four-stars in April. Prior to
the accreditation, training was also conducted at the church for cleaning
attendants on restroom cleaning. RAS strongly believes properly-trained
attendants will help sustain quality restroom standards. More training
sessions were also conducted for support staff from more than 30
preschools.
It is paramount for user education on good
restroom etiquette to start from young. The sooner we instil graciousness
into them, the better we improve restroom experience for every users. RAS
was at Nan Hua Primary School for the second consecutive year to educate
the students during their Earth Day celebration.
The RAS was founded on 8 December 1998 and as
we commemorate our 20th anniversary, more milestone initiatives are
already in the pipeline. We seek all stakeholders to continue to support
us in our new initiatives to foster a gracious society embracing excellence
in restroom culture.
