After coming on board the Care
& Share Movement to receive matching grant from the government
for donations raised to appreciate the efforts of cleaning attendants,
RAS is honoured to be among 59 Voluntary Welfare Organisations (VWOs) participating
in the Citi-YMCA Youth For Causes
this year. 100 teams were selected from more than 170 teams to raise
funds for a VWO and a team of Dunman High School students has opted RAS
as the only VWO targeting cleaning attendants.
Since the launch of our school education
programme in 2005, RAS has been actively engaging students of all levels
to implement restroom-related projects. For the past three years, RAS has
been stepping up its engagement with tertiary students such as the LOO
(Let’s Observe Ourselves) Whiz game with Nanyang Polytechnic
students and the comprehensive
toilet survey with Ngee Ann Polytechnic students. RAS also
collaborated with BCA Academy on its LOOAID (Let’s Observe
Ourselves Absolutely In Design) project to provide pro bono design
services to Happy Toilet coffee shops and food courts in 2012. This year,
the LOOAID project targets the Happy Toilet tourist attractions with Sentosa
and The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands participating for the first time.
The LOOAID project is one of our holistic
solutions offered to Happy Toilet building owners as we aim to forge
stronger ties in the hope of lobbying their support to certify more of
their buildings under the Happy Toilet Programme (HTP). As
we continue to go the extra mile to offer more holistic solutions to
Happy Toilet building owners, it is indeed heartening that we are beginning
to reap the fruits with more JTC industrial buildings coming under the
HTP. If even the industrial sites are able to achieve Happy Toilet
standards, we believe we are not far from actualising our vision of
fostering a gracious society embracing excellence in restroom culture.
