RAS gears up for LOO Campaign
RAS
has been firming up its plans to meet the campaign’s objective of
achieving the 2010 goal of clean public toilets island wide, to meet its
Happy Toilet Programme (HTP) three-star rating. The RAS has successfully garnered
support from some Mayors and their respective Community Development
Councils (CDCs). Toilet owners such as the
Singapore Sports Council (SSC) and National Parks Board (NParks) have also agreed to work with us to spruce up
the toilets under their care. The Environmental Management Association of
Singapore (EMAS), aiming to become the voice for the cleaning industry in Singapore,
will also partner with RAS to raise the image and professionalism of the
toilet cleaning industry.
The
LOO Campaign will target the toilet owners, cleaners and users by adopting
a four-pronged holistic approach:
·
Encourage toilet owners to commit to the ownership of their clean
toilets facilities by joining our HTP.
·
Train toilet cleaners with the right skills to maintain the toilets.
·
Educate toilet users about toilet etiquette, personal hygiene and
public health with our public and school education programmes.
·
Recognise anyone who has contributed to help Singapore achieve a world
recognised standard of toilet cleanliness.

RAS conducts
corporate talks
Under
the invitation by one of our proud Happy Toilet owners, the JTC
Corporation, RAS conducted four “Happy Toilet Awareness Talks”
for its factory workers and toilet cleaners in April. The talks were both
conducted in English and Mandarin to better cater for the target audience.
The audience was given a detailed explanation on the consequences of dirty
toilets and the dos’ and don’ts of toilet etiquette.
Participants were also encouraged to send their toilet-related feedback to
RAS via email or SMS.
About
a month after the talks at JTC, RAS was invited again to conduct a talk for
staff of the Society for the Physically Disabled (SPD). This time, SPD
staff was given the opportunity to learn to C.H.E.C.K. – Considerate users, Hygiene, Exercise initiative, Cleanliness
and Kind volunteers – on
themselves. Our corporate talks have been well received and we have been
receiving enquiries on our corporate talks from both government and private
organisations. Interested organisations can email to info@toilet.org.sg for more details of
our talks.
